Updated and Trying . . .

I updated my January Color by Codes set by adding 4 pages of literacy activities including pronouns, r-controlled vowels, verb tenses, and singular/plural nouns. If you already own the set, go back to the store to download again to get the new pages!

I will be doing the same with the February and March sets. If you already own them, look to upload the new additions soon!

P.S. I changed the name also to reflect the new pages.

I'm also trying out something for my Kindergarten friends and first graders having trouble with some sight words.

I redid the January set with just sight words. I've had lots of requests for sight words as skills every month. I've been thinking about it and decided to try out a different version of a set to see if we like it.

The January set practices the words...

How Was Your Party?

After a very long weekend, I began my day Monday morning with a Christmas gathering, previously planned the week before, of all the students that I work with in small groups. Included were 1st graders, 3rd graders, and 5th graders. Altogether there were about 30 of us from all over the building.
It was just a simple breakfast of fruit, donut holes and juice. We all watched morning announcements together on the big screen with a special announcement introducing the police officer now assigned to our school, new actions put into place for everyone's security at our school, and a minute of silence in remembrance of those lost at Sandy Hook Elementary.

 Everyone sat around on the floor eating, because I only have 3 tables in my room,  while I served them juice, talked with their friends. Then each one picked up a whiteboard and passed it out to the person whose name was on it until everyone had theirs. As they left the room took, each took their ornament off the tree.

This wasn't like any of the Christmas parties I had had in the past 23 years, but one of the sweetest little celebrations I've had.

This is just a little token of honor and remembrance at my school!

Our hearts are with those in Connecticut.

Angels and Heroes...

God bless those that became angels and those that became heroes.

Tomorrow, December 16, 2012, I will be participating in...

Sandy Hook Elementary

Thoughts and prayers go out to those lost in at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. This senseless act of violence against the helpless and innocent hurts my heart. I can't possibly imagine the pain felt by their families.

Also, I want to send out a huge THANKS goes out to the brave teachers and staff that took great care and protected the students of Sandy Hook during this unbelievable event.

I will be observing a day of blog silence on Sunday, December 16th to honor and respect all those affected by this event.

It's Not Twelve Drummers Drumming..

I am sad to say that this, like all good things, must come to an end.
